examples:
How Many Days to America by Eve Bunting, connection from this book to Martin Luther King Jr and Rosa Parks, they were fighting for their freedom and stading up for themselves and then also connected it to the pilgrims (which is a more obvious connection), they left their home and traveled by boat to get to America where they would be FREE!
The Lorax by Dr. Seuss to tie it into pollution/cutting down trees in the rainforest. Connection to seeing big buildings in NYC with lots of black smoke coming out. Also, Fly Away Home, The Lotus Seed, How Many Days to America?, and Smoky Nights. To be honest though, a lot of these books have to do with with hard-hitting issues such as homelessness, persecution, rioting, etc.
